Make plans to join us for one of our most popular dual-event party outings of the year. We combine an afternoon of glorious horse racing at Arlington Park for their biggest race day of the year, with a feast of delicious tapas at La Tasca in downtown Arlington Heights, one of the top restaurants in the Chicago area for these Spanish small plates delicacies. The tapas feast includes a dozen hot and cold tapas!

Start your celebration with an optional afternoon of exciting thoroughbred racing at Arlington Park, one of the most beautiful racecourses in the country. Entrance to the track is $12 online in advance (at www.ArlingtonPark.com) or $15 at the gate. Our club does not charge anything extra for this part of the event. This is the biggest day of stakes racing at one of the nation’s most beautiful tracks. The highlight of the day is the legendary running of the “Arlington Million” with one of the biggest purses in racing.

Purchase your ticket, enter and meet us at the John Henry "Against All Odds" (bronze horse) statue on the Apron Level Balcony overlooking the paddock at the middle of the back of the building. We'll greet you there on the hour at 2, 3, and 4 p.m. (racing starts at noon if you want to see all races). We'll meet up and watch and bet on the best races of the day. We'll sit in the lower grandstand in the home stretch about 50-60 yards from the finish line. Not an experienced bettor? Don't be afraid about embarrassing yourself. Neither are we.

After the races, the party moves to La Tasca for a get-acquainted cocktail party (cash bar). This is followed by sit-down feast of a dozen varieties of tapas served family-style. These range from appetizers through entrées and dessert, all in the traditional Spanish- influenced casual small-plate style.

Examples include Yellow-fin Tuna-stuffed Pasta, Chicken and Ham Croquettes, Grilled Beef Brochette and Herbed Goat Cheese Baked with a Tomato Sauce. A trio of decadent desserts completes the meal. Add a glass of wine or a mean Sangria and you have the perfect way to celebrate the holiday with lots of other single friends.

This deluxe evening of dinner and fun (including all taxes and tips) is an affordable $39. This is an "Open Party" with members, guests and non-members all welcome for advance registrations, regardless of past participation. Walk-ups will also be accepted at the door for $40, as space permits. Dressy casual attire. Park on the street, in a nearby municipal lot or with complimentary valet.

We are returning once again to the site of one of last summer’s most popular parties.

In Italian, "fontana" means fountain and it certainly is appropriate for the Fontana Grill and Wine Bar. This delightful Italian (with a touch of Bosnian) pasta and hand- tossed, stone-fired pizza restaurant in Chicago's Uptown neighborhood has a spacious patio filled with flowers and even a few fountains. Join us at Fontana for a delightful Italian tapas feast under the stars (weather permitting) on the city's North Side.

Fontana also has a unique wine program that serves wines priced by the ounce. Imagine being able to go to the bar and taste 6, 9 or 12 different wines, depending on the level of wines you select (up to 12 oz. in all), and doing this for a mere $10. Certainly no other restaurant I know of does this. Want a half-glass of wine? Fontana will serve you a half-glass of wine for half the price!

Meet, relax and socialize with other singles on the inviting patio while enjoying the culinary pleasures and pleasing casual ambiance of Fontana Grill. Your evening begins with a get-acquainted cocktail hour. This is followed by a full "seated" Italian tapas feast serving you eight distinctive, mouth-watering dishes served family-style:

• Pizza Chicken Pesto topped with Grilled Chicken Breast, Onions, Roasted Red Peppers and Mozzarella with a Unique Pesto Sauce
• Wild-Caught Calamari, grilled and served in a Homemade Wine and Lemon Sauce
• Stuffed Grape Leaf with Certified Angus Beef and Rice in a Rich Tomato Sauce
• Grilled Polenta with Cevapi - Certified Angus Beef and Organic New Zealand Baby Lamb Sausages, served over Grilled Polenta with Cucumber Alfredo Sauce

As summer winds down, meet and get to know other singles during a full evening of fun. Enjoy a cocktail party (cash bar) and dinner party featuring smokehouse barbecue favorites on the patio (weather permitting) at Sheffield’s Beer & Wine Garden in River Grove. For those of you who may not be familiar with River Grove, it is northwest of Oak Park and Elmwood Park, where the streets of Belmont, Grand and Fullerton intersect with Thatcher and 1st Avenue.

This is the new suburban location for the Wrigleyville-based casual food and drink establishment that serves up delicious hearty barbecue, meat and seafood favorites. But this location of Sheffield’s also presents performances from some of the best acoustic musicians in the area.

Join us for warm conversation and camaraderie with single friends old and new, as you savor your choice of five mouth-watering dinner combos:
